This family-friendly food tour, which includes an introduction to the downtown district of Athens, is definitely worth tasting!  Specially designed with kids in mind, the 3-hour interactive excursion is a marvellous way for youngsters to taste the many distinct flavours of Greece whilst learning about the capital’s culture and history.

Join in with their excitement as they visit one locality after another, sampling a variety of delicacies that they will find finger-lickin’ good. Meanwhile, true foodies in the family will appreciate discovering where foods originate from, and how they are prepared.

Your culinary adventure begins in the heart of the historical Anafiotika district that sits below the Acropolis. Here you will taste the popular dish of genuine Greek yoghurt drizzled with honey and sprinkled with walnuts. Continuing your stroll through the narrow alleyways of the famous Monastiraki district, your children will delight in the hustle and bustle of the city whilst tucking into local snacks along the way. Watch them try a classic spinach pie (‘Spanakopita’) made with herbs and feta cheese, and also taste some of Greece’s delicious olive oils. Your guide will explain in an interesting and fun way how the oil is produced.

Next, a visit to the authentic local ‘Varvakios’ market will give you and your children the opportunity to see the numerous counters of meats, poultry, fish and other fresh produce on sale. Learn about the different cuts of meat and see how many varieties of fish there are.

Everyone will get to taste authentic Greek products such as olives, cheeses, cured meats and much more throughout this journey of food. Then, for the icing on the cake, the whole family will finish the food tasting tour with a visit to a local ice cream parlour where you can indulge in the best, creamiest ice cream ever!
